QQQQ. It's an index ETF of 100 Nasdaq stocks. It's one of the most popular and heavily traded equities on the Nasdaq.

I'm predicting the Dow to settle around 7500 around Jan 20th when mr obama gets in. Nasdaq to around 1400-1500. Unemployment and more big bankruptcy will rise.
Obama will be Hoozerized Herbert Hoover was not the reason of the great deppresion..it was Warren Hardings policies and the roaring 20s boom. Hoover who took office in 1928 got the blame.
American right now is just starting to see the effects of the 2008 crash..it will be more evident come summer 2009..Mr Obama will at best by 2012 be like a Jimmy Carter...at bad be like Hoover and at worse case..well just be the worse President ever.

Perhaps he will work hard on PR angle of his presidency.

He may convince Americans that he done best, what could possibly be done in ailing economy and succeed by the same.
He will also remind Americans that collapse begun during reign of Bush's administration.

Time will show how well he will do.
Nevertheless I am glad that he is US president.

Nikkei down 6.5%, Hang Seng down 7%, FTSE down 4%, Dax down 4%, dow futures trading about 100 points below yesterday's close.

It's looking pretty unlikely that we'll go up on the open. I'm feeling a bit vindicated in my cynicism about this rally. I missed the timing of the drop by a couple of days, but there just was no reason for the kind of optimism we were seeing. It was unfounded hope by the bottom feeders.

I could smell this meltdown coming all the way up here in Niagara Falls, Canada.

For sure. I don't mean to gloat. I've been questioning myself a lot over the last week watching my predictions be just horribly wrong day after day. It's restored my self confidence a bit that I'm not a total idiot. Probably several of the posters in this thread are feeling the same way.

Good to see the bears are back in full force. Looks like a DOW triple digit red at the start this morning. I guess the bulls made thier money buying low then selling high and we resume our trend downward for a while. Good luck traders.

It's almost amusing to read the headlines today. "US markets figure out, after election euphoria, economic problems haven't gone away."

Obama will probably be taking office with the DOW below the current 30-day floor, though. The KwanChannukaYuleMas numbers will be out by then...

Bad news all over this morning. I'll go out on a limb and predict another 500 point drop by the end of the day :) Its back to 8000 and quickly...

There is nothing positive about jobs continuing to be cut. Without work, you have no money, you don't buy anything but food/shelter (if that)... Plus you tend to liquidate assets when you become short on cash...

My guess would be that we'll find another bottom in the next month. Maybe even a couple and then rally by the end of the year. It's VERY rare to have a down month on the dow in December. Statistically December is the most positive month of the year. The market is almost always up in December. For some reason crashes always seem to happen in October.

Hmm..so we got a small red spinning top for the opening bar. It'll be interesting to see how we do today. The previous two spinning top type openings reversed by the end of the day, but my hunch is that the spinning top opening is just equivocal. It doesn't give you a direction. The prior two:

10/31 we opened with a small red spinning top and closed up 146.
11/3 we opened with a small green spinning top and closed down 5.
