The European stock markets "are giving up some of the gains" from "the last 6 days of rises", which "was the longest period of daily gains in 18 months".

So this could be profit taking, or a negative reaction to the election, or a refocusing on the "fundementals" rather than the election (such as some companies' results failed to live up to the expectations).

How many are using this sucker rally to dump stocks ahead of the drops when the auto companies report their results on Friday?

I dumped most of my investments into cash. There's simply is too much bad news around and it is foolish IMO to think that a brighter picture is emerging.

Reality sets back in very quickly. Nothing has changed, the country is still heading off a cliff.

down 161... heading for a good drop today by the close...

Cash is not exactly safe either.

Nothing is "safe". That's why you diversify. Stocks, bonds, cash, supplies, PM.

Now that the election is over, it's every man for himself. Look out below. They don't have a vested interest in propping it up any longer.

Y'all knew TS would HTF once the election was over. Why the surprise?

Expect gasoline prices to go back up too. No more proping things up.

Exactly, no need to keep propping it up. The incumbents were saved.

As I understand it, what happened was that Hogan requested to have his account deleted. Pops obliged him. Hogan was the author of the stock market thread, so when his account was deleted, it took out the stock market thread.

Too much counterparty risk?

Completely agree :-)

From my reading around I am of the belief that downward movement in the markets/PM is still in the cards.

DOW down 403 pts.

Is that it for the day or will we see a massive drop in the last few minutes?
