I plan to post soon with a follow-up to the Samantha Gross AP story...

Here is the follow-up -- an interview with one of the people quoted and photographed in the AP article, Peter Laskowski:

Interview link:

Danny Bloom: How did that Associated Press story of May 2008,
reprinted worldwide in newspapers in over 100 countries come about?
Did you know the reporter Samantha Gross beforehand, or how did she
find you?

Peter Laskowski: The AP reporter heard about me from my daughter. She
had heard that I lived "off the grid" and called me on the phone one
day last spring, spring of 2008. She interviewed me over the phone
first, and then she sent an AP photographer up to Waitsfield, Vermont,
where I live, to take photos and do a second interview.

Yeah! I don't get that at all, equating fowl with piles of ammo.

Didn't cover much ground of course, but all in all painted a far different picture than the survivalist tag. Very by the numbers. Kinda Whole Earth Catalog really, the PEACE sign on the barn.

Boss wheels, too. Looks like some kind of WWI recon vehicle.

Here's a link to the CNN video on peak oil.

http://money.cnn.com/video/#/video/news ... s.cnnmoney

I think they did a good job of putting peak oil into the discussion, but I don't really like the term survivalist.

I hope it gets people interested in what's going on.

It has aired at 6:50 am and at 1:15.

Did anyone else see it?

Our own TV star! Great job, Revi!

Well Done!

I found the grammar of the reporter to be accurate, but for a 1 minute, 20 second sound bite, there is no way for a layman to pick up on any connotation of the ramifications of what the pretty lady is talking about. Peak Oil may be in the Mainstream Media, but it has yet to be understood by the masses.

At least it is in invitation for the auto didactic portion of the population to get to work.

Love the car, got plans?
I bet if you added an inverter, and an electric chainsaw, you'd have something handy.

Spot on, Revi, you da man!

Clear, conscientious, concise; you got the message across without the survivalist imagery. In other words, success!

Thank you all. I have been trying to get somebody to listen to me about peak oil for at least 5 years. At least a few people heard something about peak oil.

It looks like it's really timely too.

Crude went up over $10 today.

That wasn't half bad. They didn't present the subject in a bad light, they didn't get carried away with the "we're all gonna nuke each other tomorrow!" angle, Revvi did a decent job of being concerned without displaying an overwhelming desire to eat his neighbors, I give it two thumbs up.

Here's the solar woods rig, KPeavey:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFYpNrbyKCA

The car is a kit and is available through:

www.sunnev.com

It would be really useful in a warmer climate. I plan on putting the batteries in the basement for the winter.

We're bringing it to the Solarfest this summer.

It might be a great thing to have if gas keeps going up like it's doing.
