All I could find was where someone posted some Mad Max crappola, with bad music dubbed in.

Just by way of explanation, this is one of PO.com' "serious" threads.
Motorhead can find a home here - but not here.

100% agree. Expect any practical action to be at least partially if not entirely derailed by Biz and Gov.

I am wondering if the panic like price jumps in crude the past two day are a result of the mainstream media coverage being given peak oil now.
The seeds get planted in a person's mind and the subconscious suddenly starts working overtime linking events and suddenly even at its high water mark, a barrel of crude starts looking pretty reasonable. This is a similar kind of mindset that led to gold rushes in history. I think a bubble is starting. Hang on to your hats, its easy to see a flood of new money coming in!
If a barrel should hit $160, coupled with energy stocks hitting the 20X multiples they had in 1980, the oil and gas stocks will be goosed up far faster than crude itself. I'm not sure what will happen as an encore, it may just go poof at that point.

I said it in 2007 on an other forum, 2008 is gonna be the year peakoil starts unfolding and the predicted consequences would start to materialize
and here we are
it's that exponential thingie that sucks so much
one moment you're fine, the economy is growing and everybody thinks you're a doomerloser
a year later, bang 5% inflation (in belgium that is) with almost no growth and people start looking at you like, what the fuck are these reality facts maybe pointing out that he was right?
last weekend I was deleting some old text messages in my cellphone, came across a message from my peakoilaware buddy, saying, "WTI $90!!!"
we're fucked

You've lost your mind... to much of that good beer.
Patience, it goes like this
1. The search for the guilty.
2. The punishment of the innocent.
It always has, it always will.

Revi, you were HEROIC! Wonderful. Calm. No nonsense. No weird stuff. No weapons (good idea not to blab about it). Just the simple and plain facts. Peak oil is going to alter the economy. The electric car was super. The garden was nice.
I bet your students loved it!!
Way better than we would have done.

Thanks. Some of my students saw it when it aired on Thursday. It's going to be on the website for a few days, so people will get a chance to check it out.

I feel like I did manage to get peak oil in the spotlight for a couple of minutes, anyway.

Revi, that was terrific. Hats off.
It was a great piece, and it was quite courageous for you to put yourself out there like that.
People like you lead the way.
