CNN REALITY CHECK

As I type this there is a special series of reports on CNN entitled "Fuel & Food"

Some of the highlights are:

*The pentagon has a task force that is seriously considering the ramifications of the worldwide food shortage and the threat it poses to our security. There was an emphasis that they were not planning any military action but just studying the ramifications of the events around the globe seriously
*The price of milk and fuel are inexorably tied to each other in ways that we wouldn't at first recognize
*T. Boone Pickens, former oilman and founder of BP Capital is building the larget windmill farm in the USA. He stated that the OPEC will not be able to meet rising demand
*The soaring price of gas has put the breakes on a "Wheels for Meals" program in Baltimore. The prices of styrofoam cups and other supplies has soared. An executive from the program states that he is troubled at having to make decisions on who eats and doesn't

How is it they can mention all this and not say the word "peak oil". I'm still new here. Is this a dirty word? Does peak oil=doomer in the media's eyes?

You can be damned sure the Pentagon has a contingency plan for the invasion of Canada.

All those resources up there, just waiting for the grabbing.

I've been saying for years that the US will invade and occupy Canada, and now it sounds just a shade less crazy than it used to. That trend will continue.

Canadian Troops To Patrol US Cities As Food Riots Feared
Maybe they had to announce it because even Russia has the story?

No trouble making the decision to himself eat, I'm sure.

Everything is beginning to sound less crazy than it used to... Things are happening and being done that shouldn't be...
Talk about feeling helpless...

The U.S. June issue of National Geographic has a write up on Peak Oil that is very interesting. Peak Oil is definitely making a shining in magazines such as national geographic, popular mechanics, etc...

The article talks about Sadad I. Al Husseini predicting production declining as soon as 2015. It also mentions Paul Roberts book "The End of Oil" and his new book coming out named "The End of Food".

It also includes are great chart showing "Large Oil-Field Discoveries". I think it is a great article and worth buying this issue if you don't already subscribe to National Geographic. Even though many members here already know this information, this can be a tool to give to family members or friends and say "look even National Geographic is talking about it".

If this is a double post and has been talked about in another thread please merge.

About time.

Last year I wrote to 15 of the largest newspapers in the US and a half dozen news magazines about this subject and not one publication was interested. I also wrote to Al Gore...no response.

We are in the 'Indian Summer'. Don't wait until the winter sets in to start work on your preparedness efforts.

You still have some valuable time left to prepare for what awaits you down the road.

Here's the problem: The people don't read.
