PEAK OIL HAS ARRIVED / CRISIS IMMINENT

Quote:
ABC Australia has just produced a 12 minute video which makes a very effective case, by interviewing oil experts throughout the world, that peak oil ( when supply can no longer meet demand ) " is probably here and at best we are within three years of a major oil crisis."

It was done very soberly, not alarmist (unless you had never heard of the idea)...

the interview with exxon is crap. The schmuck repeats the EIA 30-year peak figure. Crap. The short time spent on alternative was sceptical and reasonable. The show is spot on. It is the very best presentation I have seen period. The piece is balanced, professionally produced, comprehensive, sceptical, challenging and scary as hell 8O

how do I download it?

No thanks. Spotting Heinberg's citation by a psychotherapist was enough of a heads-up that this would be the same tired, recycled garbage promulgated by the inbred doomer crowd. Let me know when the dilettantes are done playing arcmchair geologist/economist/energy expert...

Digital,

The bottom line is we are all going to know soon enough. There is still a big part of me that hopes Im just biting off on doomer porn too quickly and easily. Unfortunately, as we move along, it's playing out at least as bad as I thought it might.

Very good video. The increase of petrol prices will make more and more people aware of peak oil. However, it will not change the outcome; the decline of the world economy until we reach the point of self-sustainability, which will be many decades away and a fairly large portion of the population either poorer or dead. :(

Ludi is that sort of like the way imminent death acts as a strong motivator to action? 8O

In a year or two, when the refineries can't get enough crude feedstock to make as much finished product as they can sell, will you still be visiting these forums?

That's Exxon's strategy. They know they're full of crap, but they're sticking with that story. Chevron, BP, etc. are taking a higher road.

Excellent video. Thanks.

Notice how the oil company shills always say 'running out of oil' and only address production rate when pressed?

Also, note the 'EV' button in the (non-US) Prius at 8:47.

There was no mention that the initial effects of PO are not going to be stranded cars on a freeway; rather, it is going to be a stretched to capacity monetary/financial system with the ensuing collapse of a large number of institutions, from: hedge funds, banks, insurance
companies, hospitals, retail outlets and finally food distribution systems. The effects of PO may be beyond the capacity of most contemporary individuals to comprehend! Joe Six Pack probably understands it to mean that he will have to stay home from work and watch TV until they get it fixed!
