As frickin' usual the frickin' point is missed! What GOOD does it do to get angry? So you get angry, so I get angry, so what? Whoopty do we get angry. Fanfuckintastic! We're all angry! Proving we all understand "what is going to happen"! Now what?

Anger, if properly channeled is a great motivator. I wouldn't be doing much to prepare without it! ;)

Now when it isn't properly channeled, it can be a problem...

Personally, I think at this stage, anger at our way of life is fully justified. I've found it quite disabilitating through my life and it has caused me to have plenty of health problems, but now I'm learning to channel it.. I hope! :) I'm just getting started on my permaculture garden!

Edit:
Also, we should be angry at the people who fight to maintain this system and confront or discredit them if/when we can. I don't mean spreading word about Peak Oil/GW either, it's far to late for that. We should be focused on changes that will ease the transition, for ourselves, our families and if possible for our societies.

Do you think revolutions are started by happy go lucky people?
Oh, perhaps you think there is some other feasible solution?

You all need to watch "On The Beach". When all hope is gone, the only thing left to do is fly around in a helicopter and screw your best friend's wife.

What stage is that? Acceptance/Hope Turtle? I suggest a further stage... resignation/release.

It seems those that know not what we do have achieved that state. Some here have too. Most loath it though.

I can express plenty of anger, but it just makes me look like a raving loon.

How will getting angry help anything? (Except help raise your bloodpressure)

My comments about the need for more anger were directed not just at PO.com members but at people in general, Ludi.

Remember "I'm mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore?", from the movie "Network"? Crazy as he was, Peter Finch made a lot of sense.

As Turtle noted, anger is a stage out of which hope may evolve, through action.

An angry people can accomplish much positive change; a complacent people merely moo and chew. A classic example of the power of anger is the extraordinarily angry protests of the 1960s, which ultimately ended the Vietnam War and overt racist policy in this country, and seeded the environmental movement.

Our masters love it when we're not angry, and do everything they can to keep us from getting that way. That's how we are now, "sleepwalking."

Dac - I believe I am in two stages at once. Nope not bi polar. Maybe even many stages at once... 8)

On one hand I am grounded and still wanton to change things yet on another I realize that this is all an illusion and temporary. There is even a part of me that says "bring it on" no matter what "it" may be.

I doubt few here have went to the lengths I have in order to promote change and to also make drastic change on a personal level. Heck, few here could say that they have done what I have done to simply raise awareness with family and friends etc etc.

Certainly some have gone farther and done more yet they are few and far between.

Yet all the while, through my up's and down's, triumphs and failure's I have maintained a faith that surpasses all religion.

I hope more can join me in this duality, an eternal spirit yet still very very human in this existence.

As the shit hits the fan we are going to see many losing their freaking minds, unable to believe or unable to adapt etc etc...
On one hand I wish it were not occurring yet on another I kinda knew it would come to this.

I do dislike those that have done nothing but whine yet they are still one up on the sheeple.

Good example.

"On the Beach," an overwhelmingly powerful movie, takes place after all rational basis for hope has been lost and most of the world destroyed, with the remainder waiting for the radioactive cloud to reach it. Basically, it's a movie about dying.

What gives the movie its special power is that we are all, individually, in exactly the same position as those people in Australia who are waiting to die, yet trying to live.

BTW, I do not recall any helicopter scene or adultery in the movie, and I've seen it three or four times.

The board might be interested in these comments by my brother (the former president of a significant Nasdaq-listed company) in an e-mail to me. Not much new here, but he has a certain way of putting things:

"In the last two months or so, there has been a dramatic contraction in the amount of credit available to the real estate market. This is going to lead to a recession, led by inevitable deep declines in housing prices, since less money will be chasing more and more unsold houses, especially as the foreclosure rate zooms. The entire consumer economy has run on fuel provided by the appreciation of prices and the creation of credit on the basis of that appreciation and on the expectation of continued appreciation. This process is now running in reverse. The Fed will start lowering interest rates shortly; however, this will not change the fundamental problem. The real-estate run-up was the last hurrah of the baby boom. Ultimately, the problems we will experience are related to the aging of that vast generational bulge."

I think the s*** is hitting slowly. It is starting with the real estate market, moving into finance and will spread out into the big boxes and other retail. I think that this christmas season won't be a particularly merry one, and next spring won't see many housing starts. By next summer we'll be in a full blown recession. The only good thing is that with all the trucks repo'ed and all the jet skis idled we may not use as much oil. Maybe.

Yeah it's hitting - just in slow motion.

Remember that movie the matrix when the bullets just seem to stop in mid-air.

Imagine turds instead of bullets.

Nah. Don't think so. There'll be no Neo to stop them once the turds start flying.

Remember the quote "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore" ?

Usually need to have a breakdown to get to the break through.

Anger leading to positive action is a good thing.

Healthy anger is a useful emotion, and no that isn't an oxymoron.

Denying anger can cause resentment, which is like taking poison and waiting for the other person to die.
