Tomorrow's the day eh? One can only imagine how many electrons will
be saved on this board. We will no longer need to argue when peak will
occur. :)

In the US tradition, the typical household, the women will be in the kitchen
from early morning till meal time, cooking the food and fighting off the
men from grabbing snacks before all is ready. The rest of the afternoon
the men will be in front of the tube watching football, falling asleep before
the game is completed, but only after consuming extraordinary amounts of
food and liquid refreshment.

In the evening, it will be time to fire up the SUV and tour the neighborhood
to look at the Christmas lights. The man of the house will have forgotton
to fill up before and that's when things turn for the worse. Peak Oil Today,
no gas.

Actually, these days a lot of people go out to eat for Thanksgiving. Or order in. Grocery stores and restaurants sell entire Thanksgiving dinners precooked - turkey, stuffing, sides, and the pumpkin pie. Just order it, pick it up, and warm it up in your oven or microwave.

In our family, everyone watches football - men, women, and children. I confess, it's one Thanksgiving tradition I really enjoy. The Detroit game first, then the Dallas game.

We usually watch the college game at night, but many families go to the movies, or rent one. Seriously. I was surprised to find that Thanksgiving and Christmas are huge days for movies. People have all their relatives around, and often can't stand them or don't know what to say. So they watch a movie, which they can do "together as a family" without actually having to talk to each other.

Much like the Turkey getting gutted on Thanksgiving, I think of images WalMart Shoppers gutting the shelves on Thanksgiving. Look what we have come to.

Remember last year, when a woman was trampled by a crowd at Wal-Mart? They were all rushing toward a display of $29.99 DVD players. Wal-Mart promised to save her one and sell it to her for the $29.99 price - as soon as she got out of the hospital.

Of course, this year you can buy DVD players for less than that, even when they aren't on special.

I'm a lifetime single person, and I've known THAT all my life! The most memorable was the Christmas when I went to the nearby theater in the pouring rain--and there was a line of umbrellas over a block long (people were under the umbrellas, of course)!

There's a huge sale at the Big Lots store tomorrow (discount store, but not a dollar store). After my friend and I pig out at a nearby restaurant, I'm having us go there. $19.99 electric blankets! In this year of I-won't-turn-on-the-heat-cuz-gas-is-too-expensive, that's a deal NO ONE should refuse!

Happy Deffeyes day, everyone! :-D
