Looks like for everybody except Exxon and the EIA, it’s downhill from here …

Back in the 70s, my Dad held a good middle class job, and my Mom didn’t work. He supported a family of five, plus a dog and 2 cats. He owned a car, a truck, an RV and a boat, a house in the city, and a recreational property. He took the entire family on 2 vacations a year, and still had enough money left over to save for a very comfortable retirement.

Those days are long gone. We don’t have as many energy slaves as we used to.

GregT, you understand the situation, as does J-Gav.

The optimistic view looks like a plateau of oil production at best.

“Those days are long gone. We don’t have as many energy slaves as we used to.”

And we did other things as well. We exported jobs continuously to China and elsewhere since 1980. And we imported workers continuously since 1980. Exporting jobs and importing workers can make the labor market a lot less friendly for the workers.
