Humans will need ‘three planets’ by 2050

The World Wildlife Fund says three planets worth of natural resources will be needed by the middle of this century if current consumption rates continue.

The group’s Australian CEO, Dermot O’Gorman, told a meeting at Adelaide Town Hall the global population is likely to grow to 9 billion by 2050.

He says the world is already seeing the results of the population having doubled in the past 50 years.

“Everything from increasing water stress and pressures which of course Adelaide and South Australia know very well from the Murray-Darling Basin experiences, through to food shortages globally and the climate problem that we need to face,” he said.

He says humans began consuming more resources than were being produced by the 1970s.

Three planets worth of resources, is of course an impossibiilty and absurdity of course. So what will actually happen. The PTB will try to keep the game running as long as they can, like they are now. The resources themselves will get deliveried(sort of). The actual quality of what gets delivered to most end-users will steadily decline. It will take many forms.

‘Real gas’ will be watered down with bio-fools.
‘Food’ will be even more adulterated and toxic than it is now. It will look kinda like food, sorta taste like food, but will be mostly filler and mystery flavors and chemicals.
Real wood will be replaced with fake wood.
The quality of most consumer items, even mundane ones will continue to deterioate. Example, tools metal content will decline and be more prone to rust and break due to inferior quality ores being all thats available.

Companies will hail all there ‘new’ breakthroughs and substitutions as being somehow groundbreaking or better than ever, but in reality, most substitues will just plain suck. But few will notice since they wont have a whole lot left to compare them too. Those that do have older, more durable items or possesions will keep them closely guarded and not share.

Thats how well get 3 planets of w/e. At least until at least even that fiction collapses. Well just cut down the content of everything we use now by 1/3 or replace it with low-grade filler and voila! Toys for everyone….

or we could face reality and stabilize our population now

or at least admit thats what we have to do and start encouraging people to limit their children to a maximum of 2

The never ending growth of the world population is not sustainable. We add a billion people to the earth every 12 years. Where will all the food, water, oil, and jobs come from to support this massive population?
