I.E., video and audio. Was going to post one in the Another Record thread but got to thinking it would be good to have a dedicated thread; and sorry if I'm brainfarting and forgotten that we've done the like. In a hurry and can't check - someone can bump if another thread's lurking around somewhere. This'd be great for newcomers who don't have Twilight in the Desert at the library.
For more peak oil interviews than you can shake a stick at, go to Global Public Media. Would list some recommendations but have to run.

I posted a thread here about all of the good films I've found so far about peak oil. A great Resource of Online Films related to Peak Oil, energy: linkAnd yeah that Oily Casandra video is pretty funny/educational. She clearly knew how to reach a large swath of the population. Here's a direct link to the videos: linkSince you guys have seen a ton of peak oil videos, let me know any that I should add to the collection. Cheers, Tim

oilycassandra funny? what about sexy?
The only other video I can remember is about "exponential growth, the limits to growth" in which some University proffessor said that one of humanity's greatest dangers is to NOT understand the exponential function. Maybe some poster know the link?

Some names to check out on YouTube or GPM:
Albert Bartlett
Colin Campbell
James Howard Kunstler
Julian Darley
Matt Simmons
Richard Heinberg
All of these except Bartlett are published authors as well.
Jason Bradford has a radio show archived on GPM, the Reality Report, with all sorts of interesting interviews. David Strahan is the author of The Last Oil Shock and also has interviews archived at GPM.

If you google "Bloomberg Oil" a Matt Simmons youtube video is the first "related site" that comes up, even before Bloomberg.com: Oil.
Doesn't that ordering indicate how many times it's been hit? So people are watching that video more than they are checking the actual price of oil on that site!?

Birth of An Oil Field
Fun and informative 1957 feature from Shell about drilling a well, produced by renowned animator/filmmaker George Pal.

Savinar will be a guest on Coast-to-Coast AM (formerly hosted by Art Bell) tonight in case anyone is interested.

Funny how C2C respectfully nods their head in solidarity to conflicting viewpoints depending on who the guest is, peak oil (Savinar) on one hand and abiotic oil (Alex Jones) on the other.
I think Noory is an evangelical "end times" creationist type of guy who doesn't have the gray-matter to fully process the science behind Peak Oil. The illuminati stuff seems to fall more in line with his biases.
Art Bell is a much brighter guy and more of a critical thinker, ironically enough, considering he created the genre. Too bad he only guest hosts once in a blue moon now. I'd rather listen to Ian than George. Ian at least knows half of this is lunacy and throws out one-liners.
We'll see how it goes.

That late night AM radio is kind of a free media zone that predates the Internet and has supplied thought provoking, entertaining, and true but unready for mainstream media facts and news over the years. The listeners range from those working their shift but able to listen, folks who can't or don't sleep much, and of course the wackaloons who are always looking for a hole in the fabric of the space / time continuum to stick their heads out of and spout or make faces as they participate in the human version of "whack a mole" and wait for the players to bop them with the big foam rubber hammer. Bell and Noory and the other kings of this airtime understand if they ever get too attached to credible stories and hard facts they would take much of the life out of their niche.
Peak Oil is not a popular topic and was not welcomed onto advertising financed media with open arms. Hats off to the kings and queens of spooky, night time AM radio who stirred a bit of Peak Oil reality into the stew pot of goblins and sasquatches and holes in Wyoming that don't have a bottom without upsetting the guy who was abducted by aliens and able to prove it by showing how they ran up his credit cards at casinos all over Las Vegas even though he lives in Memphis.
Night will always be kind of eery and mystical and someone will always have a weird, spooky, and sometimes true story to tell. And this has been true ever since we huddled around the fire to stay warm and hold the wild things at bay while we rested.
