This whole idea of having obese entitled endebted isolates driving around in circles is pointless.

The economy here consists of folks going into debt to waste fossil fuels to produce garbage. In the process most of them just get older, fatter and uglier and more in debt and a few administrators and ceos etc get lots of green paper.

Am hoping this po dust-up tanks suburbia. GM is already scrapping a 2 billion dollar program to make new slobotomobiles for ugly obese morons.

Can I second that motion, Aaron? This is exquisite.

Working on improving the situation a little with sequestration while we make the situation much much worse every day by extracting and burning stupendous quantities of safely sequestered carbon is...well, what is it. Insanity? Suicidal idiocy? BAU?...

From Page 2 of the "Fast Crash!" thread:

Just this week there have been a few reports that finally got me agreeing with some of the doomer's scenarios around here: first the IEA report, which although has been given a positive spin, assumes a massive injection of investment if we are to simply stand still, while also assuming the discovery of as-yet undiscovered fields. To call for massive investments at precisely the time the finances of the world are gripped by panic and inertia, gives me very little reason to hope for a slow crash.

This about sums it up. Well said, virgincrude. Bravo!

It only stops working when he can't afford to buy any more ink.

From here out, I think any rallies in our economic condition are going to be met with spiking commodity prices that knock us right back down.

This is succinct.

Ultimately when oil production drops so severely that demand destruction can no longer keep up with it, then we will begin to see the final act of peak oil collapse. Still being on the plateau as we are in a world that continues to waste tons of oil, I think this whole episode just shows how much buffer there is before the store shelves are empty and zombies take to the streets.

In six hundred years we've progressed from not knowing the world is round to not knowing oil production follows a bell curve.

So I say, step away...examine what you are being spoon fed to believe.

Stepping away does not mean embracing fear and doom. It means embracing structures that are long term sustainable. Learn to grow some of your own food. Learn where your heat and electricity come from. Learn to chop some wood, make your meals from scratch, raise some livestock. Learn who your neighbor is and where your food comes from. Think about how much you depend on that is not sustainable. Then look to ways of developing a more sustainable and non-fossil fuel based life.

A gift to all of us from Thuja... nice, and nicely put. :)

I second that. Short, witty and, most important, up to point.

I think we're having a big sale on inventory before the whole world shop goes out of business.

It's cheap to buy things now, but they aren't ordering anything to replace what's out there on the shelves now.

By next summer a lot of the inventory will be gone.

Then they'll close up shop.
