The Senate recently approved the Foreign Sales Corporation/Extraterritorial Income Act (aka the Jump Start Our Business Strength (JOBs) Act - S. 1637) and the House Ways and Means Committee is currently considering its version of the measure. The Senate-passed bill includes tax incentives to assist consumers in purchasing battery electric, hybrid and fuel cell vehicles and supporting infrastructure.
The members of EDTA have worked long and hard to obtain meaningful tax incentives for electric drive technologies in energy legislation, which is currently stalled in Congress. The JOBs bill may be the only viable mechanism available THIS YEAR for ensuring that tax incentives for battery, hybrid and fuel cell vehicles are enacted into law.
In order to encourage the House of Representatives to include energy tax incentives for advanced technology vehicles in its version of the JOBS bill, see below to send the pre-drafted email to your Representative. Tell him/her that we need consumer-based tax incentives for electric drive technologies and that these provisions should be incorporated into the JOBS bill.
