Abiotic oil debunking is a regular thing around here. New members who have not done their homework bring it up as a solution to the worlds problems. Posting a reply uses more energy than will ever be generated by such a thing.

Chinese now visiting peak oil sites?
Public Policy; Political and Legal NewsAaron of peakoil.com has posted a map, apparently showing the location of visitors to peakoil.com. One surprise in Aaron's map is the number of visitors from China.

More interesting is that this Chinese traffic is new for our site. Around 4 months old.

Before that... nada.

Not a single IP I could identify as a mainstream Chinese visitor.

Then suddenly... poof.

I suspect that our site, along with some others have been taken off the filtered site list in China's firewall.

This probably represents a change in policy for China.

Yes, that is right. I am at least one of them retrieved your website several times since I translated Matt Simmons' book Twilight in the Desert from English into China. The Twilight Chinese version could a starting point to bell Chinese once again and then kick off China to review this wake-up call seriously. I will hold Twilight Chinese version release ceremony in January 2007 in Beijing. Xiaojie Xu

Whichever direction China goes, the results will be stupendous. China has amazed the world during the 20th century [www.guardian.co.uk], and may well do so again. The energy and ingenuity of the Chinese people are not to be underestimated."

I'd like to see an example of something amazing, tonnage of plastic crud doesn't do it for me, neither does recreating the industrial revolution coal and all 150 years later get me all excited.

Totaliterian states aren't new either, if they really want to amaze the world then they could start by being the first country to look beyond the next months cash flow as of now theres a lot of hot air out there and no geniune action as to limits of growth style problems from any goverment.

Right now they're competing with the rest of the world in the competition of who can be the most short sighted, and sadly winning.
