According to author Peter Cizek, the Pembina Institute, World Wildlife Fund Canada, the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society and the Sierra Club of Canada, as well as scores of other "green groups" are in the pocket of the Pew Foundation. In return for millions in funding, these groups remain silent on issues related to the environmental impact of the Alberta tar sands industry, or even actively distort information.
If Mr. Cizek can back up his accusations, and there appears to be little reason to believe he can't, these revelations would deal a potentially mortal blow to Canada's environmental movement.
A similar analysis of the connections between the Pew Foundation and US "greens" would be welcome, since it would likely reveal more of the same.
