These stastics seem like something that would come out of a Third World country. Makes me wonder how long before we'll see the U.N trucks with the W.F.P logo handing out sacks of grain in the United States.

Was a follow-up done to see whether anyone so much as sent in a card saying, "Thank you for feeding me and my kids." As a taxpayer, it would be nice to get a thank-you in the mail for my $32,300 this year.

... Only until the time that TPTB decide they do not have nor can they cannot afford to give away food.
I was watching a program ("China: Ascent of the Dragon") this weekend. One of the statements made was that (close-paraphrasing) "China must feed 20% of the world's population with 7% of the world's arable land."

Yeah. I've thought about giving up my job and going to food stamps so I can eat better. Ever get tired of seeing the moochers lined up with their carts full of Hoo Dongs and cookies and steaks, while you're trying to buy a week's groceries with $80? I wouldn't feel so bad about it if they'd restrict food stamp purchases, to say WIC items and ramen noodles. But to give a family (in Oklahoma at least) $334 a month to spend on whatever exotic items they want is a slap in the face of those of us who work and are responsible with our money. Oh well, PO is going to take care of that crowd anyway. My farm won't take "food stamps".

The statistic that 90% of black children would at some point be on food stamps was repeated today on Channel One. One of my little girls chimed in and said that her family received $700 in food stamps each month. None of the students corrected her so I assume her statement was not an exaggeration.

A family of 5 can receive up to $793.00 per month in food stamps.

People should be asking why? Why are such a high percentage of this demographic unable to self-support?

Why are such a high percentage of children born in this demographic ending up in single parent households and will more government money do anything to address the causes rather than the symptoms and perpetuate the problem?

It's a hell of a lot easier to raise kids and maintain a household when both parents are present and contributing to the effort.

Folks should have noticed in the latest Newsweek and Time that 90% of the US population earns no more than $32,000 or so. The top .01% earns around $30 million per year. That means the top 1/10,000 of the population has an income that is 1000 times as great as is typical for 90% of the population.
Have noticed on here besides the social isolation,paranoia,and pessimism of the population, an intense hostility and a general mean-spiritedness. Those traits tend to go together.
