TORONTO (Reuters) – Canadian Oil Sands Trust said on Friday that Syncrude Canada Ltd will shut down a damaged processing unit for two to four weeks to make repairs after a fire on Dec 5.
The trust, which owns the biggest Syncrude joint venture stake, said it expects 2007 production will still be within the range of 110 to 111 million barrels despite the outage of Coker 8-3.
Any potential impact of this incident on 2008 production or costs will be addressed later this month when the trust announces its 2008 budget.
The trust said Coker 8-3 had continued to operate at reduced rates by bypassing the damaged ESP unit, but the repairs will take longer than the allowed bypass time.
